I raise Mini and Toy Australian Shepherds, affectionately called Aussie's, on a cattle ranch in The San Luis Valley of Colorado. I'm a small home breeder ~ they're part of the family ~ and I'm down right proud of my tenderhearted Aussie's! The pups are ranch raised 'under foot' ~ they are not kennel dogs! They are 10 generation pedigree Aussie's. My adult dogs are small mini's and large toy's and are ASDR registered. I breed for correct Aussie structure, conformation, and temperament. They're fed Exclusive puppy/dog food, available at most ranch feed stores.
Aussie's are instinctually excellent working dogs, service dogs, loyal friends, great travel partners, and family pets! And, my pups really are ranch raised! The pups come well socialized and spoiled! By the time you get them, they've been exposed to other dogs, cats, horses, and cattle. If you're looking for your next best friend, please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
An Aussie is happiest right next to his owner; they're the real man's best friend! Because of their tender and devoted nature, they form lasting bonds with their family. Aussie's are one of few hypo-allergenic breeds, with full, very soft coats that need very little maintenance. They're natural watchdogs and have been known to give their lives protecting their loved ones. Aussie's are very intelligent and full of energy; they want to run, play, swim, fetch, hike, play with other dogs, and go for rides in the truck. They'll watch over children, romp with them, and be a true companion. They can be reserved towards strangers and quite protective of their property and family. They were originally raised for herding livestock and it's because of this herding instinct that they posses these qualities.
Aussie's have earned recognition in a variety of skills because of their loyalty, intelligence, and eagerness to please. They excel as service dogs in search and rescue, medical alert, guide dogs, or hospital visiting dogs. They're highly regarded for their abilities in sports such as obedience, agility, and fly ball. But, above all, they are loyal companions.
Be very wary of buying a pup from those breeding Aussie's born with natural bob tails, breeding merles to merles, and/or breeding Aussie's with lot's of white. These things increase the odds of the offspring being deaf and/or blind or becoming deaf and/or blind.
I make every effort to place my pups in loving homes where they will be lifelong companions. Therefore, it's very important for you to research the breed so you are certain they'll fit in with your lifestyle and family. Their main goals are to always be by your side and to please you. You need to be sure that's what you're wanting out of your next best friend! Please reference these sites for more information about Aussie's.
